The Raj Niwas officials reported that 139 doctors working at different government hospitals in Delhi had been promoted from Grade-II to Grade-I after receiving the approval of Lieutenant Governor of Delhi VK Saxena. These doctors′ promotions as non-teaching specialists had been "pending since 2020/2021," according to them. They were qualified for promotions after four years of service.
The UPSC first hired these physicians in 2014/2015. They have been employed by government-run hospitals in Delhi, including Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, Lok Nayak Hospital, and Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital.
According to the officials, they are experts in different fields, including ophthalmology, pulmonology, paediatrics, ENT (ear, nose, and throat), anaesthesia, obstetrics and gynaecology.
These doctors claimed that Lt Governor Saxena had given the go-ahead for their promotion from Grade II to Grade-I.
A senior official said that Lt Governor Saxena has insisted on offering improved service conditions and facilities to medical staff members working in government hospitals since taking office. He also promised to "provide necessary promotions to them at the earliest."
